A bucket-list haul from the capital to the Arctic. Drive fast up Østerdalen or Gudbrandsdalen to Trondheim, then trade the E6 for the slower, far prettier Helgeland coastal route (Fv17) with its ferries, the Seven Sisters peaks and the Svartisen glacier. Cross the Arctic Circle, push on to Bodø and take the ferry to Moskenes for the granite spires and white beaches of Lofoten. Give it at least 6 to 7 days one way; many fly home from Bodø or Evenes to save the return.
