From the ferry quay at Lysebotn, deep at the foot of the Lysefjord, this road claws its way up the cliff in 27 tight hairpins, including a full 1,100-metre spiral tunnel cut inside the mountain, to Øygardstøl at 640 m, the launch point for the Kjeragbolten hike. It is short, steep and unforgettable and pairs perfectly with arriving or leaving by the Lysefjord ferry.
