A wild day south of Trondheim. The Dovrefjell plateau is the only place in Norway to see musk oxen, shaggy Ice-Age survivors that graze the tundra below the Snøhetta peaks; guided safaris leave from Oppdal and Hjerkinn, or you can hike the marked trails yourself. Stop at the Tverrfjellhytta viewpoint pavilion for one of the country's finest mountain panoramas.
